1. Design Preparation:

• The process begins with creating a design using graphic design software. The design can include a wide range of colors, gradients, and intricate details, thanks to the high resolution that DTF printing supports.

2. Printing the Design on PET Film:

• The prepared design is printed directly onto a specialized PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) film using a DTF printer. This printer uses eco-friendly, water-based pigment inks, which provide vibrant and durable prints.

• The design is printed in reverse order on the film, starting with the color layer, followed by a white ink layer to ensure opacity and vibrancy when transferred onto dark fabrics.

3. Application of Hot Melt Adhesive:

• After printing, a layer of hot melt adhesive powder is applied to the wet ink on the PET film. This adhesive powder ensures the design adheres properly to the fabric when heat is applied.

• The film is then passed through a curing unit to melt the adhesive powder and allow it to bond with the ink. This step is crucial for ensuring the durability of the final print.

4. Heat Transfer:

• The cured PET film, now carrying the design with adhesive, is placed onto the fabric. Using a heat press, the design is transferred from the film to the fabric. The heat press applies pressure and heat (typically around 160-170°C) for 10-20 seconds.

• Once the transfer is complete, the PET film is peeled away, leaving the design adhered to the fabric.

5. Final Touches:

• After the transfer, a post-press step is often performed to ensure the print is fully bonded with the fabric. This might involve a quick press for a few seconds.
